What a buzz at this year’s Music and Drama Education Expo! The 5th anniversary of this free conference didn’t disappoint, with over 60 seminars, workshops and debates for those involved in music and drama education.
My ‘Definitive Gospel Workshop’ where I shared Ten Top Tips for Starting a Gospel Choir also turned out to be an absolute blast.
The queue, starting half an hour before the workshop began, was a clue to the 250+ crowd that would pack the Rhinegold Theatre for 50 minutes of singing, clapping, step-touch and laughter. More than ably supported by the beautiful vocals of Marsha Morrison and the genius accompaniment of Vaughan Larmond, fast, furious and fun was definitely the order of the day!
Here is what some of the attendees said:
‘I would like to thank you for your highly insipiring session about Gospel singing. Although I teach music, I have never actually had the courage to experiment with Gospel music. After this session I am more than eager to give it a try…’
‘You are truly an amazing music practitioner & I felt very privileged to witness such soul, feeling & passion for music. It was a breath of fresh air & something you do not always see in the world today & I loved your enthusiasm so thank you so very much for that!!!’
‘It was such an honor to meet someone who has given so much back to the gospel music scene in the UK and who is a leading educator/tutor in gospel music. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for inspiring me and bringing such an energy and value to all of us educators during your workshop’
Finally, I must say that the Music and Drama Education Expo is a rich well of information, training and networking that educators can tap into, providing invaluable opportunities for those wishing to expand their teaching repertoire. If you work in music or drama education, this Expo is a must-go!
