Yes, it’s that time of year again – the annual broadcast of one of my favourites, The BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year, is back again! I love and commend what this show has done in giving gospel music a platform on prime-time, national TV. Music is a powerful medium, but I personally believe that this vibrant, inspirational genre is more than special. In my experience, it is healing and transformative for those from all walks of life and for young and old alike.
I’m super happy to announce that this year, I have joined the panel of this flagship programme, as a judge and I am honoured to be joining show veteran, Muyiwa Olarewaju and chart-topping star, Seal!
Five leading amateur choirs take to the stage of Central Hall Westminster in London to compete for the prestigious trophy, and it has to be said that this year, each of the five choirs were EXCELLENT, representing what is going on in the gospel scene to a very high standard indeed.
Why not see for yourself? To watch the programme broadcast this past Sunday 26th November, simply click the link below. However, make sure you join us again this coming Sunday, December 3rd at 4pm for the finals, and to find out who will be the winner of Gospel Choir of the Year 2017!
